Welcome to Dianna's webpage.

It has been provided to keep friends and family updated on her life with Fanconi anemia (FA).

Dianna was diagnosed with FA in April 1998.

FA causes aplastic anemia (bone marrow failure), as well as many different types of cancers.

She had a few of the obvious signs of FA: missing both thumbs, deaf in her right ear, very small for her age, and had corrective surgery at birth on her intestines.

Dianna had a sibling donor bone marrow transplant at Medical City Dallas, TX.

Transplant date: October 1, 2008

Day + 253

Sorry it has been so long from my last update...
With Dianna awake --I have wanted to spend the time with her.
She looks much better!
She was arguing with me this week. :-)
Dianna is still on the ventilator.
But she began PT today,
and the doctors are hoping that this will help with her strength in her arms, legs, torso, lungs, etc.
(Please pray that this works- if not the doctors are talking about a tracheotomy) :-(
Now that Dianna's skin/wounds are much better--
her doctors are talking to the surgeons again about a more permanent Dialysis access. ???
Dianna is still in a critical condition, but each day she seems to be getting better and stronger.
THANKS again for ALL the PRAYERS!!!

It is good news that Dianna is improving. Praise the Lord! We will keep praying. I can imagine you want to spend every waking moment with Dianna.
We will pray her lungs greatly improve. If Dianna has to have the trac, will that be temporary? We pray she doesn't have to have one.
Praying for Dianna to be out of critical condition and be really stable.
Love Charisse

Diana We are happy to hear that you are doing better, that was wonderful news to hear. We hope that you will not have to get a trach, but we felt the same when they told us our son Elias needed a trach. Honestly, it was the best thing for him. Hopefully Diana's would be temporary. If you all have any questions or just want to speak to someone that has a child with a trach (coming up on 1 year now) please do not hesitate to email us, mycarouselofprogress@gmail.com we'd be happy to help with any anxieties. Of course as tough as Diana is she will probably prove them wrong and do wonderful!
